A Telling Time
While beating the heat and navigating through the new normals of life, we are making it. We are ONE and we are just fine! COVID-19 continues to drape us with its cape of pandemic destruction, fear and uncertainty for over 4 months now. And it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
(Don’t let the Fear get to you!) Yet we persevere. AKA has taken on COVID-19 and summer programming with a vengeance and I whole heartedly believe our Staff and Kids are thriving because of it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it even louder this time… I am so proud of my Staff and the Kids and their families!
Here are a few of my thoughts for those of you interested.
Safe Learning Plan 2020-2021
Governor Walz has made his much anticipated “Safe Learning Plan” for the upcoming Minnesota School year.
:: As everyone collectively scratches their heads or goes off scurrying to find out how many COVID-19 cases per 10,000 people in the County! ((#TrusttheSystem!)) ::
Along with the Governor’s (and Departments of Health and Education) guidelines, Superintendents’ decisions for your Independent School Districts are sure to be scrutinized. Just don’t forget. None of this is easy. You can take it or you can leave it. (No really, homeschooling is always an option!)
More importantly you cannot control the decision, you can only control your emotions and ultimately your response to whatever is decided. Show your kids that we will get through this through the positive. We are all doing our best (Mask, please)!!
We’ll see how all of this plays out for our partnering/neighboring Districts but know that AKA will be doing everything we can to provide programming to offset the several School models that Districts and their families face. (See AKA School Time)
This is the telling time. Please trust the system. As we approach the school year and whatever that will end up looking like, help your children flourish through this tough time by staying positive, handling your emotions and convey to them that we all thrive through hard work and adversity. This too shall pass and things will get better.
Preparation, i.e. Eat Healthy and Be Active, is still the leading vaccine
I heard on NPR a concern about the new “freshman 15”. (Related Link) Basically people not taking care of their diet and healthy living. News flash (but don’t watch the news), unlike the ‘Schools Year Decision’, you can completely control this. There still is plenty of time. Try a carrot and don’t eat after 8pm. Swap out that cappuccino mucho sugar mocha for tap water (with a lemon).
Get out there and just do it!
We say good bye to a State Treasure… here’s to the Velodrome!
I got a text from my buddy last night. It’s a sad day as they are bulldozing the Velodrome this week. Sorry JT…He was the last person to ride the treasured track last night. Thanks to the NSC’s Founders for making this dream a reality. It’s just too bad the dream faded to soon to be distant memory.
Thanks for exciting our AKA summer campers and for so many years. Thanks for all the years (yes, you too Mr. BOB WILLIAMS) of keeping Minnesota Single Track Cycling Blaine’s very own. NSC Velodrome, you will be missed!
Count your blessings… love your family!
I lost a loved one this week. We will all miss you Aunt Anne!
Above all, Aunt Anne was always deeply open and honest, kind and caring with her Norwegian style. Always unique and enduring as a mother and loving relative. Thank you for all the love… you’re in a better place. Rest in Peace
Be safe out there everyone. Be good to your neighbor, help these kids and be kind to one another!! Well wishes, CS
