What is a matching donor?

You choose the dollar amount and we share your proposed contribution with our audience and encourage them to donate. Statistics show that matching funds increase the amount of each individual donation by 19%! (The Power of Matching Gifts and Challenge Gifts, Joseph Bornstein)

Where does the money go?

Each year we review the needs of the community and how our organization can have the most impact. Past GiveMN projects include:

  • Scholarships (Ongoing): One of the biggest needs we see each year is for reduced or free programs for kids across every community. We do our best so support as many families as possible with reduced fees through our Scholarship program.

  • Essential Workers (2020): This fundraising effort stemmed from the impact of COVID-19 and the need for safe and reliable childcare for Essential Workers in our communities. Funds raised provided discounted childcare through the 2020-2021 school year in our new School Time program.

  • Physical Education Support Project (2019): This projected was launched after learning that some schools receive as little as $250 in their budget for Phy Ed equipment for the entire year. Funds raised were used to provide equipment to individual schools so they can keep kids active throughout the school year!

  • After School Programs (2018 & 2017): For two years we worked to establish a healthy after school program that was at the lowest cost we could achieve (sometimes free!) to ensure ALL kids had an option to play sports after school.

  • Program Expansion (2016): When we saw the need for additional summer camps in our community, we worked tirelessly the find new facilities, hire new staff and purchase new equipment to expand our program. Funds raised helped us open two new summer camp locations in 2017
