COVID-19 Message - 3/31/20

Hello AKASPORT Families!

We hope this email finds you healthy and safe! First and foremost, Thank You to our health care workers, first responders, educators, grocery store employees, truck drivers, delivery men and women, law enforcement, sanitation workers and countless others who are working extra hours and putting themselves and their families at risk to serve the rest of us. We know many of you are in these industries and we appreciate all that you are doing! Thank you to all working parents for adjusting your schedules and priorities to support your kids and their teachers as distance learning begins this week.

We are facing unprecedented times together and while we have the same concerns many of you most likely do, we are also always looking for the positive. While we never want to minimize the seriousness of the current health care crisis and the the hardships many are facing through illness and unemployment, we hope that those of you who can will take a moment to pause and focus on the simplicity this time has brought us. A time when calendars are mostly empty and kids are home with us for dinner each night. These times will pass, hopefully sooner than later, so we hope you can look back on this time and know that you took a moment to rest, connect with friends and family and focus on your health and well-being.

On a lighter note, AKA Staff have been staying busy prepping for the AKA All Sports Summer Camp and launching new programs for the coming school year. While social distancing we have launched AKA SPARK Before School Care and AKA School Release Days for the 2020-2021 School Year. Take a look at these new programs- we hope to see many of you there! We are also taking this time to plan for our future growth with an expanded Board of Directors, new grant funding opportunities and a solid plan for new and returning staff members.

We are currently planning for our summer programs to start as scheduled and are very excited to see all of your kids being active and social once again. If we are not able to start our programs on time we will be adjusting our schedule and billing and will be sure to communicate all of that to you as decisions are made. We are working on sharing tips to keep kids active and busy over the next month or more so be sure to follow us on social media. We are thinking of each of you and can't wait to see you back in AKA programs.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns! AKA is here for you and your kids and we will be ready for another fun, active summer!
