52 Weeks Later... Part I

We are closing in on 52 weeks.
52 weeks from when the COVID bomb dropped and lockdown was the theme.

We’re not out of this yet, but from here marching forward towards summer we’ll be more certain and far more fearless.

If you’re a first timer to this Blog and want to cut to the chase, click here for 10 reasons to choose AKA this Summer.

I’m here to hopefully boost your confidence in choosing AKA programs this spring, summer and fall but I’m also here to boost the faith in you (parents).

Yes, this Summer, Field Trips will be back. You can count on that in 2021. So will masks and social distancing, to the best of our ability. Sports, Games, enrichment activities, movies, meeting new friends for life… of course that’ll all be there too!

We program AKA Camps and Clinics, School programs and events to help you out. Of course we want your business.

But for all of you parents out there, I have one request. Please, spend more quality time with your kids in sport and recreation activities.

If there’s anything we can learn from the pandemic, its that we all move too fast and we need to slow down, especially for the comfort and proper nurturing of our kids.

No it’s not always easy, or preferred, but to ensure we give our kids the best opportunities in life, whether that be through sport, the arts, academics or anything of nurturing value, take more time for our kids and for a better tomorrow!

From here on out, AKA will continue to program for kids in kindergarten forward. AKA will not run programs, with coaches only, working with your 2 & 3 year olds. This won’t make them a pro, this can only do harm. Just absurd, this latest trend. I’ll just say it, shame on those organizations who encourage such programs. THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SPEND WITH YOUR KIDS. THIS IS 2’s & 3’s ONLY TIME IN LIFE TO BE FREE and LEARN THROUGH AMAZEMENT. NO FEAR OR NO PRESSURE CIRCUMSTANCES.

If AKA does run programs for 3s, you can count on it as a social piece, absolutely WITH THE PARENTS PARTICIPATION! I am all for kids socializing. But the prospective trauma that kids could endure at such a young age in organized sport is real. If we want to slow down the process and fix sports so that we avoid burnout, we have to start to recognize what our true motives are.

So welcome back to sports and what will soon be a more normal world. :)

Much more to come….. thanks for stopping by! -CS
